Paris City Profile

Paris is centrally situated in Northern France. Over centuries, the city expanded by stretching out in concentric circles from the tiny island, now Île de la Cité, where the Parisii, a community of fisherfolk settled in 250BC. The city is encircled by the Périphérique with the Île de la Cité still at its center. Its history reaches back to Romans and even Neolithic times. Today, Paris consists of two million people living inside the 9.7km diameter.
