La Samaritaine, a huge department store and home to those entire clever housewares is on Rue de Rivoli. One of the most interesting things in this area is the Champs Elysée is one long (almost 2 km) showcase for top international brands: Citroen, Peugeot, Walt Disney, Virgin, Louis Vuitton and Club Med, all the best brands compete for exposure in this exclusive location. It is indeed one of the most famous shopping streets in Europe. Make sure to visit the Passages shopping malls in the area around Rue de Rivoli. These shopping centers have been a great shopping destination since 1800. You also shop at Les Halles and Rue de Turbigo which are teeming with shops that attract the young generations. Don't miss the Forum Des Halles department store which is well appreciated by the locals. To shop for souvenirs and crafts head to the area around the Pompidou. If you are an art collected then Ile St Louis and the Marais are packed with art galleries, bargain shops and young designer shops. If you still haven't found what you are looking for, then head to the Viaduc des Arts behind the Opera de Paris Bastille. There you will find all sorts of crafts and hand made objects. In the Left Bank, the area between Boulevard Saint Germain and Jardin du Luxembourg, one can shop for books and rare antique objects. Paris has also numerous street markets such as food markets, flower markets, antique markets and many more. For instance, Porte de Vanves market: in the center of Paris 350 sell furniture, paintings, fabric, glass items, jewelry, decorations, music, etc. This market opens on weekends and is based in Avenue Georges Lafenestre and Avenue Marc Sangnier (Metro: L13 Porte de Vanves) Saint Ouen open market is the biggets market in Paris, it stretches over a massive area and includes many smaller specialized markets. It opens on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Metro: L4 Porte de Clignancourt)
