In Paris, the world's most admired travel destination, it's easy to waste your time bumping with tourists and waiting in lines. Our main advice to you is to get out of the hotel, go explore the city on your own to get a sense of the place. Here are some tips to avoid the crowds and have an delightful visit.

Avoid the Louvre during the day  Waiting in line to get a glimpse of the Mona Lisa at the Louvre can be very frustrating to many people. Instead, visit the tranquil statue garden of the Musee Rodin (entry costs 6$), or for modern art, head to the Palais de Tokyo (entry costs 7.5$). If you want to visit the Louvre during the day, here is a tip to lessen your overall waiting time: bypass the famous Pyramid entrance and enter through the underground Carrousel du Louvre shopping center.
Visit the major tourist sites at night The Louvre (10$) welcomes visitors until 9:45 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. The Eiffel Tower ($13.50) closes at midnight, and the Arc de Triomphe ($8.50) at 11 p. m.
